This was my first project of the third year of my course. It is a set design and 1:10 scale model of a film set for an adapted version of Beauty and the Beast. In this project I wanted to stay as far away from the original design and the animalistic imagery. I set my script in the future and instead of focusing on Beast being an actual animal I focused on his feelings of self doubt and lack of confidence in order to justify his design being inspired by biomechanics and body modification. I also set the scene in an imaginary French town in Tokyo so that I could achieve the aesthetic I imagined without changing the original script. The design was heavily inspired by the Cyberpunk genre as well as likely problems of the future such as drug use and crime.
